San José becomes very popular from December to April, during the city's dry season, but it's possible to visit all year round. To enter San José, a valid passport is required. You also need the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) for yellow fever. Brazilian tourists do not need a visa to enter Costa Rica.

La Sabana Park
La Sabana Park is the most famous urban park in Costa Rica, ideal for sports, picnics, or paddle boating. There are two major attractions in the park: the National Stadium and the Costa Rican Art Museum.
Jade Museum
A perfect place to learn more about pre-Columbian history. It houses various ceramic works and original decorations that are thousands of years old. It boasts the largest collection of jade in the Americas, with numerous translucent pendants shaped like animals and deities.
National Theater of Costa Rica
This inspiring building has been around for over a century. Statues of Beethoven and Calderón de la Barca greet visitors at the theater. La Fortuna Waterfall
Located three hours from San José, this natural area is managed by a non-profit organization, with a 70-meter waterfall situated in the middle of a forest in a 210-hectare biological reserve. You can relax in the cold water and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Arenal Volcano National Park
Costa Rica is known for its national parks, and one of the most famous is Arenal Volcano National Park, surrounded by tropical rainforests. The area is famous for its unpredictable weather, so it is recommended to take tours in the morning. This destination is always sought after for ecotourism and nature activities such as zip-lining, hiking, waterfall swimming, and hot springs.
Tortuguero National Park
Less than a 4-hour drive from San José, this park is known for sea turtle nesting (which occurs between June and July). It features an open forest for visitors and a wide variety of wildlife, including sloths, monkeys, and toucans, which you can observe up close.
San José’s cuisine is similar to Brazilian food, very flavorful, and rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and vegetables. Its staples include rice, beans, various meats, and tropical fruits, with seafood options as well.
Chifrijo is a typical dish of Costa Rica, made with a base of rice and beans, vinaigrette or pico de gallo, pork cracklings, and toasted corn tortillas.
Ceviche is a more sophisticated dish, perfect for seafood lovers. It’s made with bell peppers, onions, cilantro, and tomatoes, offering a refreshing balance of flavors with a hint of acidity.
Tortilla is a simpler but delicious dish. You can choose your favorite fillings, but the traditional ones often include beans, cheese, or potatoes with beef or pork.
Costa Rica has perfect postcard-like beaches. Even though they are not as well-known or crowded, they are great spots to enhance your trip. The water is crystal clear, and some beaches offer views of the Caribbean Sea or the Pacific Ocean, as Costa Rica has access to both.
Tortuga Island
A true paradise, ideal for swimming, diving, and sunbathing. It has sapphire blue water teeming with marine life – a fantastic choice for your trip.
Playa Dantita
Also known as Las Catalinas, this beach has pleasant water and abundant marine life. It’s a great spot for snorkeling and enjoying your visit even more.
Playa Conchal
With calm, transparent waters, Playa Conchal is perfect for relaxation. It’s not too crowded and offers an incredible view of the sunset.
Playa Manuel Antonio
A stunning paradise, with preserved nature and diverse wildlife, warm waters, and breathtaking scenery. Besides the beach, it also provides access to some of the most famous national parks in the country.
Costa Rica is one of the most volcanic regions in the world, with seven active volcanoes and hundreds of inactive ones.
Poás Volcano
Located in Poás Volcano National Park, in the Central Mountain Range, it is the most visited volcano in the country. It remains active, with small eruptions recorded in 2006 and 2011. This park is just an hour and a half from the international airport, making it a great stop before your return flight to São Paulo with GOL.
Arenal Volcano
This is the most popular volcano in Costa Rica, located in the La Fortuna region. It has the perfect cone shape and a nearby artificial lagoon. The volcano is particularly striking at night when you can see the vivid colors of the smoke. In this area, you can also visit an inactive volcano known as Cerro Chato.
Irazú Volcano
Situated in the Cartago region, 50 kilometers from San José, Irazú stands 3,400 meters tall. From the top, you can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Its main crater is 1 kilometer wide and contains a green lake surrounded by plants.
With numerous national parks and environmental reserves, Costa Rica offers a wide variety of places for outdoor activities.
Zip-lining in the jungle
In La Fortuna, you can zip-line through the middle of one of the tropical forests surrounding the district. It’s a thrilling and special experience! You’ll soar at treetop level, with the chance to spot the local wildlife below.
You can also visit the Ecoglide Arenal Park, which offers a circuit of 12 zip lines running through the giant trees of the tropical forest.
Hiking
Arenal has its own hiking trail, stretching over 3 kilometers around the volcano, featuring 16 bridges, six of which are suspended among the trees. Along the trail, you may encounter monkeys, exotic frogs, and many other species.
